Her range is infinite as she’s able to showcase her alto and soprano abilities. She is a visionary in music because she creates an ambiance and story-telling through her music.
We love her new song “Taboo” and its getting a lot of traction as many major labels are reaching out to her and trying to sign her into a major deal.
We have reached out to Alana to find out more and this is what she had to say:
What is the inspiration and story behind your latest song?
I sat down one day with a blank instrumental & my guitar and the words just flowed out. I honestly didn’t have a set concept in mind, but I like letting things happen naturally and then refine the art from there. Once I got a clearer lyrical direction, I realized what Taboo really is about – finding the unity and higher meaning to all that we, as a society, have endured in the past couple years, but make it dance-pop.
What quote or mantra do you live by and why?
“Everything happens for a reason.”
I see every obstacle or tough situation as an opportunity to grow. When something doesn’t go to plan, I ask myself what I’ve learned from it and how I can improve for the next time. Everyone experiences adversity in their own way, but I believe success is dependent on how you handle that adversity.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I still see myself making music and living a creative lifestyle in 5 years. I don’t think music is where my mission stops. Who knows, I might have a family by then and build a creative legacy.
Describe yourself in 3 words. Tell us why.
Introspective — As much as I love performing and making new connections, I equally value my alone time to check in with myself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. If I make sure I’m good, then I can be present for others and perform at my best. It’s a necessary balance for me.
Visionary — I’m a dreamer by nature. I see the beauty and good in everything and envision so much more for the world and my community than what the current socio-political landscape offers for us. I feel like that translates through to my music and art. My purpose for making music is to empower others to be true to themselves, have an open mind, and spread the love & positive energy.
Empathic — All frills aside, I feel deeply, whether I like it or not. It’s definitely a trait that’s given me trouble when I was younger, but I’ve learned to manage it better over the years and use it to my advantage as a creative.
What is your hobby outside of music that People may not know about you?
When I’m not making music, I love expressing myself through style and makeup. I’ve been drawn to bright, loud colours as of lately. I’m also really into holistic health and wellness. Meditating, plant-based eating, staying physically active. Taking care of myself inside helps me feel confident on the outside.
