James Landry is an entrepreneur and entertainment lawyer who co-founded De Novo Agency (DNA), an entertainment agency for artists and athletes. James is adamant about not taking royalties from his clients. His artist-forward mindset permeates throughout all of his business dealings.
Aside from De Novo Agency, “The Music Esquire” (James Landry) is also the co-founder of Songflowr, an artist-friendly music distribution software that will be launching soon. James has evident respect and passion for the arts while possessing both formal and real-world education with regards to business. That’s exactly the type of guy that every independent talent should want in their corner.
James has a Juris Doctor (J.D.), focused in Business Law, from the Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Entrepreneurship, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics, from the University of New Hampshire. He was also previously a college instructor at the Florida State University and at the University of Georgia.
Experience as a college professor isn’t a surprise as you can tell from a short conversation with James that truly educating his clients on the nature of the business very much matters to him. If more people in the music industry with knowledge of “the paperwork” truly cared about the art to the extent that James does, then entertainment would be a much better place for everyone.
