Ranko Fly, a rap and hip-hop artist from Toronto, grew up in the Metro Housing Projects where he was introduced to a love for music and was able to learn and master his craft. He came from a musical household that taught him rhythm and beat, but his reggae DJ father left when he was young and much of Ranko Fly’s life was spent in a broken, single-mother home. Ranko Fly overcame all this along with some jail time that helped him realize, “I have a talent that I need to show the world”, and he has been nothing short of consistent ever since.
2014 saw the beginning of Ranko Fly’s professional recording career with his work at Smokeshop Studio. Since then, he has been bringing, as he calls it, “consistent hits, consistent energy, and consistent flow” to the industry. When asked what he hopes listeners will gain from his music, he stated, “I want them to have that good music feeling, that relatable feeling, that feeling that anyone can make it with hard work and dedication. I want them to see where I came from and how I worked my way to success”.
Recently, he dropped his hit single “Barz Ova Bagdad” featuring UK rapper Strommillian and single “OH MY” with fellow rapper Yung Caesar. Both projects are bolstered by quality music videos shot in London, Toronto, and New York. This international dynamic to Ranko Fly’s career is evident in the global network of producers such as @smokeshopstudio, @prod.rosegold, @chrisrichbeats, @lowkeydamian, and @yonaskbeatz that he works with.
Finally, Ranko Fly revealed in an interview that “I have a lot of music and experiences to share with the world. I just want the world to know I ain’t gone never let y’all down. I’m going to continue to do me and keep it a hundred!”
